Join the Vitis Regulatory Team

Why join us? Because we’re a great team with exciting plans to grow and develop our business! Working with an SME like Vitis Regulatory brings opportunities to be involved with a number of different projects and learn new skills across different technical areas. We successfully compete with large consultancy organisations but try to avoid the rigid structure and constraints that working in a large firm can create.

We have high expectations of all our consultants and support team in respect of a professional work ethic and commitment to delivering work of the highest quality, keeping scientific rigour at the core of our business. In return, we offer flexible, non-competitive routes of progression based on skills and interests, fostering an environment of cooperation and mutual support between all members of our team. What we do is serious, with real consequences for the safety of people and the environment, but we firmly believe that work should be interesting and fun.

We recognise the importance of work-life balance and as such we don’t place demands on our team to work out of hours or at weekends. We offer flexible working patterns which help our team to combine a rewarding career in science with their outside lives.

Consultant opportunities are open to applicants in the UK, Belgium or Germany. Our main offices are located near to Canterbury (UK) and in Brussels (Belgium). For applicants based in the UK or Belgium, hybrid or home working arrangements may also be possible subject to conditions. Opportunities in Germany are currently home-based only.

Salaries are commensurate with experience and level of responsibility for the relevant roles.

For all advertised roles, please send a CV and covering letter to info@vitisregulatory.com by 1st March 2024.

Based at one of our office locations in either the UK or Belgium, the Project Executive role is ideally suited to a scientist with at least 15 years’ experience in chemical regulation. You will be expected to bring a high level of technical knowledge in at least one relevant discipline from environmental fate, (eco)toxicology or chemical risk assessment, and a proven track record of managing and delivering successful multidisciplinary projects related to EU or UK regulatory submissions according to REACH and relevant preceding legislation; experience in other regulatory areas such as biocides or cosmetics is desirable but not essential. In addition to your own area of technical expertise, it is essential that you are also able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the principles of hazard and risk assessment covering all relevant disciplines for chemical regulatory submissions. You will have excellent written and verbal communications skills and will be comfortable with managing project team meetings, close interactions with clients, with a proactive and positive style. Previous experience of contributing to technical or policy projects for government organisations would be a significant advantage.

The Project Executive will play a key strategic role within Vitis Regulatory, providing our consultants, managers and clients with strategic or scientific advice relating to regulatory management of their substances and products and maintaining consistency and quality of outputs including regulatory dossiers, expert reports and presentations.

Senior Consultant – Exposure and Risk Assessment

We are looking for a Senior Consultant to join our team as an Exposure Scientist.

You will be required to contribute at a technical level to multi-disciplinary teams working on projects relating to regulation of chemicals and biocidal products. This will include both preparation of exposure and risk characterisation elements of dossiers for regulatory submissions and contributing at a technical level to strategic policy projects for government organisations. For the right candidate, progression to a technical leadership role is possible.

The position is suitable for applicants holding a minimum bachelor-level degree in chemistry or a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the field of chemical regulation and exposure assessment. It is essential to have detailed understanding of the risk assessment tools used for REACH Chemical Safety Assessment; additional experience of models used for other regulations such as biocides or plant protection products would be an advantage. The ideal candidate will have practical experience of completing assessments for workers, consumers and the environment; the role would also suit an experienced environmental risk assessor with a willingness to develop knowledge of worker and consumer exposure assessment.

Senior Consultant – Toxicology

We are looking for a Senior Consultant to join our team as a Toxicologist.

You will contribute at a technical level to multi-disciplinary teams working in projects relating to regulation of chemicals and biocidal products, including the role of Study Monitor for new studies being performed at external laboratories on behalf of our clients. The role does not include any line management responsibilities but could involve some project management responsibilities as well as interaction with clients. The ideal candidate will therefore be organised, flexible and have effective communication skills.

The position is suitable for applicants with an MSc or equivalent in toxicology and at least 5 years postgraduate experience in regulatory toxicology.
