Job Vacancy - Chemicals Risk Assessment Specialist

UK/Belgium/Germany

Vitis Regulatory is a consultancy specialising in regulatory and research support for the management of chemicals.

We support our clients in chemicals regulatory areas such as REACH, biocides, cosmetics and environmental safety, as well as providing expert scientific analysis on predictive methods, modelling, data interpretation and study design, and management.

Vitis Regulatory supports industry clients that are manufacturers and formulators of chemical products and also works with government and government agency clients on chemicals risk assessment and risk management. Our skill set is centred on understanding the risk of substances and the impacts they have.  We are proud to have supported the production of many hundreds of regulatory dossiers and to have played a key role in the development of research for the EC, ECHA and other national government agencies.

We are looking for a chemical risk assessor with good knowledge of key regulations and regulatory frameworks in Europe, such as REACH, CLP, BPR, Cosmetics and wider policies such as the Green Deal. The skill set includes understanding of chemical hazards (e.g. (eco)toxicity and physical hazards)  and the application of exposure models (e.g. ECETOC TRA, EUSES, CHESAR) for estimation of risk in the environment and/or in the workplace and to the general public.

Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to use appropriate tools and understand the operating conditions (OC) and application of risk management measures (RMM) to develop exposure scenarios that are used in regulatory dossiers and communication of safe use in the value chain.  In addition, they will understand how effects-thresholds of chemicals are used in the context of developing safe exposure levels and establishing the safe use (‘adequate control’) of chemicals substances for humans and the environment. We are also interested to hear from candidates who may have developed their risk assessment skills in other contexts for the control of chemicals and/or risk (for example Seveso III Directive, environmental impact assessment (EIA) or within the EU OSH (occupational safety and health) Framework Directive).

A full-time position is offered, to be based at either our company in central Brussels or at our company in UK (nr. Canterbury in Kent), with the possibility to be based in Germany.

The successful applicant will have a recognised degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline, with a relevant recognised post-graduate degree being an advantage. Demonstrable experience of at least four years in having a lead role in chemicals risk assessment and risk management in Europe/UK is essential.

Please apply by sending your CV/resumé and covering letter to info@vitisregulatory.com
