VACANCY: Senior Scientist for Human Exposure and Risk Assessment of Chemicals (c/d 13/04/17)
March 8th, 2017
The PFA group of companies has a position available for an experienced senior scientist to work on human exposure and risk assessment of chemical substances. This opportunity has arisen due to the increasing demands on our services (REACH in particular).
Applicants would ideally have practical industrial experience and be familiar in working with:
- Models such as ECETOC TRA, ConsExpo, ART, Stoffenmanager, coupled with Chesar/IUCLID
- Methods for production of extended safety data sheets (eSDS) and interaction with downstream users
An understanding of the basis for DNEL values derived from toxicology studies would be beneficial, although advice from toxicologists would be available.
Essential criteria are:
- Ability to interpret substance life cycle
- Understanding of how human exposure can occur, and application of methods to resolve apparent risks indicated from screening level results, are essential.
These will require the ability to interact with producers and downstream users to identify where and how RMMs can be applied.
Meetings (face-to-face and teleconf.) with our clients including several major chemical industry consortia, will be necessary. This would involve presentation and discussion of technical data, and interaction with client expert working groups. Fluent English is necessary and speaking and writing skills in another European language is beneficial.
The position will be based in our central Brussels office, and freedom to travel within Western Europe, sometimes at short notice, is important.
The successful applicant would become part of an existing team of experts working on human health and environmental risk assessment. There is much scope for personal development. A relocation package is available.
A rapid start is desirable, ideally by the end of May 2017.
The closing date for applications is 13th April 2017; please send with full CV to firstname.lastname@example.org.
