Solvents Day, June 10 at University of York, promoting more sustainable solutions

May 12th, 2014

Has the time come for severe restrictions on many commonly used solvents?

Chemical safety assessment and compliance with the REACH regulation may result in severe restrictions on many commonly used solvents. The restrictions will have an impact on future solvent use, and present a need for developing alternatives with safer, more sustainable solvent profiles. The companies which may be affected include those developing pharmaceuticals, chemicals, cleaning products, formulations, inks and pigments, and extractions and analysis.

Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence

A range of sustainable and economical alternatives have already been developed at the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence at the University of York. The University is hosting a one day symposium on the impact of legislation on future solvent use, held on the 10th of June 2014, with expert speakers from various consultancies, including Peter Fisk Associates. The session will present commercially viable advice on green solutions for solvents.  With limited places available for Solvents Day, registration runs until Monday 2nd June 2014.
