Senior ecotoxicologist opportunity with the PFA Group

Peter Fisk Associates https://pfagroup.eu/ is a well-respected consultancy specialising in assessment of hazards and risks of substances, usually for regulatory purposes. Understanding ecotoxicity is a key part of this important work. We are looking for a qualified and experienced regulatory ecotoxicologist (PhD or Masters level) to join our team of non-laboratory environmental scientists, based at our offices in Brussels, Belgium or Canterbury, UK.
The work will be focussed on understanding aquatic and terrestrial ecotoxicology and is likely to include: study monitoring of laboratory studies with substances that can be difficult or challenging to work with, and interpreting the findings; leading on chemical hazard assessment for regulatory compliance; interpreting evidence on sub-lethal effects in a context of endocrine disruption; preparing scientific reports and presentations.
You will be working alongside expert colleagues, and participating in collaborative work with major chemical companies and will have the opportunity to travel to meet with clients and colleagues and present your work. There could also be the opportunity to supervise a junior / trainee colleague.
In addition to your ecotoxicological qualification and at least two years’ experience in chemicals regulatory compliance, you must have an excellent standard of technical English; good organic chemistry knowledge is very beneficial. A wider interest in emerging environmental issues, and also the sources and fate of chemicals in the environment is necessary for development in the consultancy role.

Full-time or part-time working are possible for this role and working partially or predominantly from home may be acceptable subject to agreed conditions. Availability to start by early 2020 will be a significant advantage. Remuneration packages are competitive with industry norms, typically up to 55 to 65k€ in Brussels/40 to 45K£ in UK (full time equivalent), negotiable.
