Ecotoxicology trainee opportunity with the PFA Group
Peter Fisk Associates is a well-respected consultancy specialising in assessment of hazards and risks of substances, usually for regulatory purposes. Understanding ecotoxicity is a key part of this important work. We are looking for a qualified ecotoxicologist (Masters level preferred) to join our team of non-laboratory environmental scientists, based at our offices in Brussels, Belgium or Canterbury, UK.

The work will be focussed on understanding aquatic and terrestrial ecotoxicology and is likely to include: planning and design of laboratory studies with substances that can be difficult or challenging to work with, and interpreting the findings; researching literature to investigate evidence on sub-lethal effects – including endocrine disruption; preparing scientific reports and presentations. As a trainee joining the team, you will receive training from expert colleagues, and participate in collaborative work with major chemical and oil companies. You are likely to have the opportunity to travel to meet with clients and colleagues and present your work, with the possibility to develop to a senior level role with time and experience.

In addition to your ecotoxicological qualification you must have an excellent standard of technical English; good organic chemistry knowledge is very beneficial. A wider interest in emerging environmental issues, and also the sources and fate of chemicals in the environment is necessary for development in the consultancy role.

PFA’s company ethos is of high quality and objective science, high levels of mutual support, and constructive collaboration. We look forward to welcoming the right candidate into our team.

Availability to start by early 2020 will be a significant advantage. Remuneration packages are competitive with industry norms, typically up to 40k€ in Brussels/25-30K£ in UK, negotiable.

Please send your CV with a covering letter to info@pfagroup.eu by 22 November 2019.
