ECHA General Report 2013 Facts and Figures
May 20th, 2014
ECHA publish facts and figures
ECHA have published the facts and figures relating to the year 2013 General Report. The Phase 2 REACH deadline saw the completion of the registration of an approximate of 3000 substances, most of which have now been disseminated online. This fulfils one of the underlying objectives of REACH: to increase the sharing of data. ECHA has also established a plan related to the risk management of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC), which aims to include known SVHCs in the Candidate List by 2020.
Biocidal Products Regulation
Finally, the Biocidal Products Regulation was launched at the end of 2013, with associated tools and guidance documents. The figures reveal that an unexpectedly low number of companies have shown interest in the newly available Union level authorisation. An overview of the main ECHA activities in 2013 related to the safe use of chemicals and industry compliance with chemicals legislation can be found here.
